About

Self-taught engineer with an appetite for knowledge, innovation, and personal growth. Constantly upskilling with books, courses, and personal projects, in an ongoing learning effort and interest. Currently learning Computer Science and Software Egineering with a focus on Rust and Rust-adjacent technologies.

Passionate about Copyleft, Open Source, Creative Commons, and Linux, since 2002. At first, drawn into it because of its ethos, philosophy, and philanthropy. Then, as a proponent, with writings, ideas, coding, active participation and teachings. Used to be part of local LUGs and OpenLabs, doing activism and education about the importance of Copyleft at fairs, events, and one to one. Professionally since 2007.

Music

I am an electronic music musician and producer with my own record label: Gentle Wash Records. I am self-taught and I compose electronic music by intuition. My music has been praised by magazines, at festivals and in theatres. Proudly aired on WFMU, featured on The Wire, Resonance FM, and Future Ecologies.

I publish under two monikers with different styles:

  • Aner Andros: a left-field, darker, and introspective aesthetic.

  • GKRGY: focusing on the rhythmic and brighter side of tunes.

Over the years I have performed sporadically and with great enjoyment. I’m fond of improvisation and of bespoke live shows. Using empathy and intuition as critical factors in the making of musical voyages.

Sound Design

I graduated in Sound Design For Visual Media at Vancouver Film School and explored a creative career as a professional sound designer. VFS complete and formative sound design program comprised acoustics, necessary theories, and several production sound and post-production disciplines. Including but not limited to: boom op, utility, production sound mixer, dialog editor, music editor, Foley, sound branding, sound effects, game audio, rerecording mixer, and field recordist.

On one hand, I’m a qualified sound designer and a one stop shop for your production and post-production needs. With diverse experience on both ends, to assist during the entire life span of the production pipeline. On the other hand, that didn’t pan out, and I had to abandon the idea of doing sound design professionally.
